Desktop, iPad, and other versions

Is there a desktop version of UpWord?

No, but it is easy and free to use your UpWord notes from your desktop. We explain in the “Dropbox FAQ” section below.

Is there an iPad version of UpWord?

UpWord is a universal app for both iPhone and iPad. Find it by searching on your iPad’s App Store.

Are there other versions of UpWord?

UpWord is available exclusively for iPod, iPhone and iPad. To learn how to easily access your notes on desktop, please see the “Dropbox FAQ” below.

Creating & Managing Folders

How to create a new folder or sub-folder?

Press and hold the big plus button to create a new folder or sub-folder. You can also create a folder when moving notes.

How to move a note into a folder?

When viewing your list of notes, swipe left on the one you want to move. That will reveal more options for that note, including a folder icon. Tap that folder icon to move the note into a different folder.

How to change a folder name?

To re-name a folder, tap its name in the header bar of the screen. Names with ‘/’ and ‘\’ cannot be used with Dropbox.  Additional characters that do not work with Windows can be found here: https://www.dropbox.com/help/145/en

How do I use my notes on my computer?

To access your notes from your desktop or laptop, download the Dropbox App to that computer. Click here to download and install: https://www.dropbox.com/install

After installing Dropbox on your computer, you’ll find your notes in the folder named ‘Dropbox/Apps/UpWord Notes’.

What Dropbox folder are my notes in?

Where do I get a great, free note editor for my Mac or PC?

Done. Here you go.

Can I share access to my UpWord Notes folder?

Unfortunately, not at the moment. We are working on making this possible in the future.

Other Advanced Tips

How to type in all caps?

Tap the shift key twice to turn on caps lock. If that doesn’t work, then you have to enable caps lock in your iOS settings.  Go to iOS Settings -> Keyboard -> Enable Caps Lock.

What is TextExpander?

TextExpander is a 3rd party app that helps you type faster by expanding text abbreviations into full phrases. To enable TextExpander’s shortcuts for UpWord:

  • Buy the TextExpander app (it’s not our app)
  • In the TextExpander app, go to ‘Settings’ and turn on ‘Snippet Sharing’ with other iOS apps
  • In our UpWord app, go to ‘Settings -> Advanced’ and turn on TextExpander
